Dramyin  – The Tibetan Traditional Instrument

In the famous TIPA – Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts at McLeodgunj I met this guy playing Dramyin. Dramyin is the traditional Tibetan instrument. Traditionally of 7 strings, it appears to be 6 stringed versions when I saw them in McLeodgunj.

Typically played as an accompaniment to the songs etc, Dramyin also has some compositions for solo performance. It is also used in Tibetan Opera.

Here this guys is heading to his class after a personal practice session.
